a stylish girl wearing a white jacket and brown boots with a scarf. Using the sandwich method to create a cute and stylish put together outfit.

Have you ever just looked at someone and thought "how do they always look put together?" Maybe, you've thought, "how do they have the energy to put together such cute outfits?

I must confess...as a fashion freak on a budget I'm all about building a capsule wardrobe and adding little touches that make it "in-style". This might surprise you but I found everything for this outfit in my closet and I bet you could make something similar from yours.

The technique I used for this outfit may be something you already do without even noticing - the "Sandwich Method". It's a fool proof way to create an outfit quickly with things you already have.

How's it work?

The idea behind the "Sandwich Method" is to match the top half of your outfit to some part of the bottom through color, texture, or detail. For the outfit above I took the brown vibes from the boots and added a brown scarf over my head, you can even take it a step further and throw in a purse that matches if your really feeling it.

Now I know what you might be thinking - cute and all, but not practical for me. But wait, not only does this hack work for cute going out fits but also for comfy and casual fits as well.

Just simply matching your shoes to your purse can elevate any outfit and take it from ehhh to THAT GIRL. For the outfit to the right I paired a regular white tank top with a denim skirt.

When I am struggling to put together an outfit I usually try and pick one piece of clothing I want to wear or to look at my shoes. I have found that it can be easier to "work your way up" when it comes to building an outfit.

Once you pick out one part you can work to find its "matching" part that you'll wear on the other half of your body and after that its like peddling down hill- you just find a neutral to go in between the two.

Next time your feeling uninspired or in a rush but need a well put together outfit try out the Sandwich Method. Not only is this a fool proof way of creating cute outfits but it also is an effortless way to look put together with out having to run to Pinterest any time you need an outfit.
